  2. As part of our honeymoon, we spent a fantastic 4 day vacation on the SV Mona lisa. The Mona Lisa is a traditional Phinisi schooner. We departed from Labuan Bajo in Flores. All cabins have air conditioning and the cabin that we stayed on for our trip was clean and very cozy.
Our dining experience was remarkable; meals were served buffet-style in the open-air dining area or in the saloon. The main meals included breakfast, lunch and dinner but they also served snacks, tea and coffee for free! The menu comprised of international and local specialities, but what we really liked was that the menu included a variety of vegetarian diets that can be catered with prior notice.
The crew members and dive masters were very accommodating, friendly and always smiling.

Our diving experience was also excellent. We had the opportunity to do 4 dives a day including a night dive every night. Before each dive, a good briefing with illustrations of the dive site was given. The dive masters were very experienced and really knew the sites we went diving.
All in all I could say that there are too many places in the world where we still need to dive but me and my husband know that our experience onboard and diving in the Komodo islands is one we will definitely come back to.

  3. I spent the last 3 days of my summer vacation in Indonesia, diving the waters around the Komodo islands. I was fortunate to join one of the Komodo cruises, going aboard the sleek Komodo Dancer, which is a sailing yacht, which departs morning from the Benoa Harbour in Bali.
The yacht can accommodate up to 16 divers and I was able to stay in one of the two double bed cabins located on the upper deck of the yacht. It was a godsend that the bathrooms had hot water showers because it tended to get a bit chilly at night and in the early mornings.
Also, i would want to rave about the food! Being Asian, I loved their vast selection of Indonesian and other Asian cuisine; they also served other international main meal dishes plus breakfast was served buffet style!
Since I have always wanted to try diving in the Komodo islands, I was pleased that the diving experience with the Dancer was superb. The dive masters were very experienced and wanted everyone to have a great time. We were offered up to 4 dives a day and I was able to enjoy every single dive I made.

  5. I promised myself before I turned 30 that I would dive the waters of the Komodo islands, so on my 29th birthday I treated myself with a 7 day diving adventure.
It started with me going on board the Komodo Dancer from Bali, sometime in mid-june.
The room I was put in had all the comforts of home that included air conditioning, a private toilet and hot water. The room was always kept clean; fresh sheets and towels were placed daily or when i needed them.
The service on board was very thoughtful, with the crew offering cold drinks or cocktails or bringing warm towels after every dive. I also must commend the food! Lunch was served buffet style and served seated in the evenings. Snacks were also offered fresh after each dive. I loved the food so much that i actually gained a few pounds in my 7 day stay!
Last but not the least, the diving experience was fantastic! All guests had the opportunity to dive 3 or 4 times a day including a night dive (on most days.) The dive masters were very professional and I felt perfectly secure in every dive.
I can definitely say that this part of my “bucket list” was delivered excellently. The experience was all around amazing, with top of the line service and the beautiful dive sites, i would most definitely do it again.

  6. In October last year, I was part of a 10 divers that explored the beautiful diving spots around the Komodo islands in Indonesia. We lived aboard SV Mona Lisa for 3 days and I could definitely say that the experience is something worth reliving.
The Mona Lisa departs from Labuan Bajo in Flores. It is a traditional Phinisi schooner with modern teak interiors. The air-conditioned en-suite cabins although can get a bit cramped for me, were very cozy and clean.
Divers were given the opportunity to do up to 4 dives a day while non-divers can enjoy land tours and fishing; the operator clearly aiming to keep both divers and non-divers entertained at all times. The dive masters were very expert and knew really well the dive sites we went diving.
Rental scuba equipment, nitrox and alcoholic beverages were all available on board but at an additional cost.
On the main deck towards the bow of the boat is their open-air dining area. The food was ok. Vegetarians would also be glad to know that they offered a variety of veggie diets that can be catered with prior notice. By the way, I should not fail to mention that snacks, coffee or tea were served for free!

  7. Hello,

My boyfriend and I are very interested in taking Komodo islands cruise from Labuan Bajo. We are both certified divers and would be very interested in diving, but as a couple of budget-oriented backpackers we don’t figure we can afford a liveaboard cruise!

Please let me know if there’s anything you can offer us. We must arrive at port no later than the afternoon of December 15th to catch our flight home the next morning.

We are not seeking luxury necessarily and would be happy to sleep on the deck if that were an option!

If not, do you have any recommendations for another company/vessel that may be suited to us?

    Thank you,

    Pascale
