MV Emperor Orion dive boat review
Recently merged with the Emperor Fleet, the Orion is a 41 meters liveaboard sailing in the Maldives. Indeed, the luxury dive boat is taking some of the best Maldivian dive sites on it’s route. Built in 2009, the Emperor Orion was last upgraded in 2012.
Boat Cabins & Layout
The Orion can welcome a maximum of 24 divers in 12 luxurious cabins. There are seven standard cabins, among which 4 feature either a twin or double bed and 3 have one queen bed. Moreover, on the upper deck you will find the “mini-suites”, which are slightly bigger than a standard room, and have a double/twin bed possibility. Finally, there are two suites, the junior suite (pictured below) is located on the lower deck while the Executive suite is on the upper deck.
Every cabin comes with it’s own en-suite spacious bathroom plus a television, plenty of wardrobe space and individually controlled air-conditioning.

Emperor Orion On-board Facilities
The spacious dining room and salon area is the perfect place to relax. Indeed, with a bar and full TV entertainment system, you can sit back in one of the cozy couches and take it easy after a long day diving.
Furthermore, take a step outside and head to the upper deck for a Jacuzzi. That’s also where you’ll find the main bar, a lounge area as well as the massage parlour. There is also an unncovered sundeck area on the fly bridge, perfect for sunbathing, star gazing and enjoying the Maldives sceneries!
The Emperor Orion is one of the newest dive boat sailing the Maldives. Originally with the Constellation fleet, the Orion becomes an Emperor vessel as the fleets are merging.
The Orion can somewhat compare to it’s newer sistership, the Emperor Serenity. The Orion being 41 meters long, welcomes 24 divers while the Serenity is 40 meters long and welcomes 26 divers. The Serenity is newer but the Orion has been well maintained, ugraded and goes beyond the standards!
Diving with the Emperor Orion
The Emperor Orion is extremely spacious and quiet as the entire scuba diving operation is conducted from a dive tender. Indeed, from August to May, you’ll be welcomed on-board the Orion by a professional and passionate crew. The large tender features plenty of individual space to gear up and will take you right to the action!
