Great Escape dive boat review
The 24 meters Great Escape is an operating liveaboard offering scuba diving cruises off the coast of California. Built in 1979, the dive vessel offers itineraries to the Channel Islands, of the coast of southern California.
Boat cabins & Layout
The Great Escape can welcome a maximum of 35 passengers on-board with a bunk bed layout in each cabin. You can see the layout of the cabins on the picture below. Moreover, each bunk features bed sheets, pillows, blankets as well as a privacy curtain. Also, the showers and bathrooms are shared between divers. Hot water showers are available.
Great Escape’s On-board Facilities
The main communal area on the Great Escape is the very spacious dining / lounge area. Indeed, with plenty of seating available, it can sit every divers at once for meal time! There’s a central buffet bar and an entertainment unit for your convenience.
The Great Escape proudly boasts that they have one strict rule on-board, which is to “disconnect” from work and have fun.
Scuba Diving with the Great Escape
First, the destination offered by the Great Escape liveaboard is quite uncommon in the industry. Indeed, the 8 Channel Islands will we discovered on a liveaboard trip with them. The islands, located off the coasts of southern California, all offer something different as for sea life, underwater topography, visibility, etc.

The dive boat features a spacious dive deck allowing plenty of space for everyone to gear up. Moreover, there are two ladders to ease entries and exits to and from the water or the zodiac.
