2 liveaboard reviews for “MSY Damai 1”

  1. Diving with MSY Damai was great. Here is my review.

The boat was very spacious and lovely. The crew was very attentive, the food was always good, snacks were always prepared, free drinks, and we can have a massage on the boat after a long day of diving.

There was a 4 divers is to 1 dive master ratio so everybody can enjoy in the water, have sufficient time to take pictures and videos or choose to just drift along in awe of what nature presents – reef sharks, white-tip sharks, manta rays, octopuses, colorful corals ,and the like. The dive masters were very helpful in putting us into the right dive site, giving instructions and tips and helping us through spotting where the big fishes are. I would love to go again, moreover that different times of the year offers different dive sites as some dive sites would be inaccessible due to strong currents.

We also had a tender boat which was always there when we surfaced. We also got to use Dama’s nitrox system, which was free by the way, and we get a hot cup of drink after each night dive along with a war towel. Of course, for people who don’t like warm drinks, they could always request something of their preference.

I also remember having a couple on board who were allergic to chocolate and the crew looked nothing more but delighted to help them select which drink they’d prefer.

The crew had great passion for what they do. The dive director was also full of stories and very accommodating.

I also took the chance and got to have the massage on board as well. It was really, really good! I find myself always smiling when people ask me how my trip to Indonesia was. I’d definitely go again!

  2. Onboard the Damai, there were only 8 of us and they said it was the maximum. I have been on liveaboards which had 20 divers on it and crammed up in our dining room and had bunk cabins where we couldn’t really sleep much. It was good and felt intimate.

We did four or five dives per day, get pictures, eat, lay down and sleep. Food was nice and was a mix of cuisine. The laundry service is complimentary which is appreciable.
In the afternoon, it was always good to be on the shaded sun lounges, drinking some juice and reading through books or on my phone and getting in touch with family. They have wifi on board but very slow. They also have a satellite phone that we can use anytime too, especially for emergencies.

They’ve also provided a computer work station if a diver needs to use it especially for underwater photographers. Personally though I’ve always brought my gadgets with me, expecially phones, laptops and cameras. But I did find very good assistance with photography as the MSY Damai 1 has this very good program with photography called the Damai liveaboard photos.
