MV Miss Nouran dive boat review

Sea Serpent Fleet, a luxury-class motor yacht diving operation, operate a series of salubrious liveboard safari vessels in the Egyptian Red Sea. MV Miss Nouran is one of her prestigious fleet which, predominantly, spends it’s time in the southern Red Sea; taking lucky divers to the famous Fury Shoals and the stunning dive sites of the area. Sea Serpent Fleet have been operating in the region since 1989 and have a wealth of local knowledge to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable voyage.

The southern Red Sea offers stunning diving for all levels of diver. At Fury Shoals there are pristine and secluded reefs. Wall dives. Great visibility. And there is beautiful aquatic life. Normally departing from Port Ghalib, the southern Red Sea sites are generally further from land, more exclusive and – as a rule – less crowded. On dives you’ll find pristine coral, colourful shoals of reef fish, barracuda, blue-spotted rays, napoleon wrasse, giant moray eels, octopus and, from time to time, sharks may pass by; white tips, grey reef sharks, oceanic white-tips, silky sharks, hammerhead sharks and tiger sharks having been seen in these waters.

MV Miss Nouran was built in Alexandria, Egypt, specifically for purpose. 30m in length and 7m in beam she is slightly small than rivals such as MV Blue Melody. However, she correspondingly accommodates fewer passengers. She features twin 600hp engines, has no less than 11 bathrooms and has two 25hp diving tenders that accompany her. Miss Nouran is fully equipped with all the modern safety features you would expect; she has every safety feature including but not limited to radio, GPS, satellite phone, EPIRB distress system, first aid and life rafts.

Bunk Cabin

The main communal area of the Miss Nouran is laid out in typical liveaboard fashion. There is a comfortable air-conditioned salon/lounge area. In the salon there is an entertainment system, TV and DVD player. It makes an ideal place to sit in comfort if you want to escape from the climate for a period and read. Or unwind and watch a film in the evening.

There is a separate dining area onboard. Here the chef will present a combination of western food and local dishes in a buffet style. There are also alcoholic drinks onboard to enjoy when the day’s diving is completed. Snacks, water, tea and coffee are always available throughout the day should the post-dive munchies strike!

There are two sundecks for the sun-worshippers. One is partially shaded should you wish to take a break from the sunshine.

Wi-Fi is available onboard during certain periods for those wishing to stay connected – depending on your proximity to shore.

Diving onboard Miss Nouran

The dive deck is spacious and racks on the side of the vessel eliminate the need to carry heavy equipment up and down steps. And, before each dive, one of the professional dive guides onboard will be there to give you a thorough briefing and guide you in-water if required.

There are plenty of charging points for photographers as well as rinse tanks. Nitrox is available for those qualified (or those wishing to learn it’s benefits with continuing education).

If you’re a full blown CCR diver, Miss Nouran can cater for that too! Please be sure to notify your requirements on booking.

Twin dive tenders are always on standby for pick-up and drops where required.

Itineraries

Departing from Port Ghalib, the itinerary is usually one of 8 days/7 nights to Fury Shoals. Dive site selection is obviously subject to the prevailing conditions but aims to take in the best available locations.

Expect to pay around EUR799 for a 8 day trip. This equates to EUR99/day, making Miss Nouran tremendous value for money. Please note that this does not include some extras such as port/marine park fees, alcoholic drinks and crew tips. Please contact us for further details.
