One Liveaboard feedback for “MY Seawolf Felo”

  1. I was on the Seawolf Felo Liveaboard in May 2019. There is a 50,00 euro charge for NITROX and they do not have the EON locator system either. Other liveaboards in the Hurghada area offer free NITROX.
My experience with this liveaboard was the worst of all my past dive safaris in the Red Sea, and I have been on a few.
The live aboard safari experience with Seawolf was bitter sweet for me. Bitter because Seawolf live aboard operator leaves a lot to be desired in areas of dive safety, professionalism, behavior, and hospitality and sweet because diving the Red Sea by its self is a great experience.
After arriving to the marina where the boat was moored, I was left waiting in the 100 degree heat while the Seawolf manager chitchatted with her 2 German clients. She greeted these German clients very warmly and didn’t at any time have the courtesy of acknowledge me with even a hello. Mind you I had never see this German woman in my life, but she had my American passport photo and knew I was also customer. I guess she could have care less about the America. I guess she thought “screw the America, he can wait until I’m done shooting the bull with my German buddies. Another unpleasant situation was when one of the crew wacked me over the head (twice) with my GoPro selfie stick as I was going up the dive ladder, according to him he did it to get my attention so that another diver that was behind me wouldn’t hit his head on my tank. I wonder were this dive crew member got is judgment from. In any event, if he was worried about another diver he should have tried to warn him and not give me two lumps on my crown. In his little mind he must have thought…yeah Why not just hit me!, on the head with a metal rod, yeah that will get the attention of the Diver that should have been looking up as he approached the ladder to avoid getting hit on the head with my tank! What an idiot, to say the least. That individual shouldn’t be tending to divers. Also, there was a group of inexperienced divers that could have benefitted from a safety brief on proper procedure for approaching a boat ladder. In none of the dive brief did the guides provide instructions to the divers on how to safely approach the dive ladder.
Another example of blatant incompetence and lack of safety by this incompetent diving safari outfit was when we were on the zodiac in 5-6 foot waves and the zodiac operator, without warning, decided to gun the outboard motor and at the same time and erratically give it a hard turn causing me to lose my balance and flip backwards and go overboard! Luckily for me I was holding on to the zodiac side ropes and I was able to stay with the boat as this Moron was given the zodiac full throttle and turning. He wasn’t even aware that I had gone overboard until the other divers that were on the boat yelled at him to stop; Another instance of untrained personal was the non-communicative, arrogant and lacking of any personality dive guide that got upset with the group because they didn’t stay behind him during the dives and decided to just cut the dive short. Why didn’t he brief the group that he wanted very one behind him like chicks following mother hen before we all went in the water; how could he see what the group was doing if they were all behind him?….clearly a guide with no experience or good judgement. This same dive guide (Gamal) tried tightening, with a wrench, my $300 tank pressure transmitter that had blown its o-ring and when I stopped him and told him that it needed ONLY to be hand tight , he got upset again and walked away mumbling that I didn’t know what I was doing. The fact is that it is my scuba equipment and he was the one that didn’t know what he was doing! Very unprofessional and unsafe situations from what appeared to be a “German Divers Preferred Customer Only” catering live aboard company. I have been diving for many years and this is my third safari trip to the Red Sea and I can say that this one was very unpleasant as far as Seawolf is concerned. The diving was interesting just because of this wonderful location. Fortunately Seawolf had nothing to do with that. However it was marred by the disappointment of doing it with a less than professional and bias dive staff, maybe I should have paid closer attention to the reviews. Seawolf should train their dive staff to be safe, communicative, and knowledgeable of the operation AND management should learn customer service and be polite to everyone who gives them their business no matter where the customers come from as to not give a perception of discrimination and bias.
I would not recommend this company mostly for what appears to be an inexperienced and unsafe practices of the dive crew staff, which in my book is the most important part of doing scuba.
There are some good live aboard operators in the Red Sea area and Seawolf Is NOT one of them.
