MV Oceanic Explorer dive boat review


The Oceanic Explorer is no longer operating. 

Indeed, as you might have seen in the news, the boat has sunk in October 2020.

The 33 meters Oceanic Explorer is a liveaboard cruising the waters of the Philippines. Indeed, the steel hulled vessel offers diving cruises to either the Tubbataha Reef or in the Apo/Coron area.

Boat cabins & Layout

The Oceanic Explorer features 14 spacious cabins and can welcome up to 28 divers total. The cabins are divided among the 3 decks as follow : 4 Deluxe cabins on the upper deck, 8 Standard cabins on the main deck and 2 cabins on the lower deck (C-Deck). Moreover, each cabin has air-conditioning and features a complete en-suite bathroom, with hot water shower head!

Oceanic Explorer on-board facilities

The Oceanic Explorer is fully air-conditioned inside and boast plenty of space for every guest to be comfortable. The main communal areas are all located on the upper and top decks. Indeed, the upper deck is where you will find the salon and the dining area. First, the salon is a cozy living room with a full TV/DVD and sound system. .Plus, you can choose from an extensive media library. Second, the dining room has a restaurant-like display and features a center bar / buffet bar.

Vessel Layout

The Oceanic Explorer proudly boasts to be the fastest vessel among it’s fleet, the Expedition Liveaboard Fleet. Indeed, with a cruising speed between 8-10 knots, it’s started for a comfortable voyage. Sisterships include the Borneo Explorer, Stella Maris Explorer and Eco Explorer.
