Expensive, and Luxury!

Nautilus Explorer dive boat review

The Nautilus Explorer liveaboard was built and launched in Vancouver in 2000. This ship was custom-designed for Scuba divers to the highest possible level of comfort and safety with a layout that utilizes every square foot of available space.

This diving boat is a luxury safari vessel specializing in pampering small groups of Scuba divers on unique diving adventures in Mexico. You can have incredible encounters with giant manta rays and humpback whales in Socorro Island or go cage diving with the great white sharks at Guadalupe Island.

Cabins and layout

Accommodation wise, the Nautilus Explorer offers luxurious premium suite on the hot-deck to a cost effective, mixed-gender triple occupancy cabin on the lower deck. All eight lower deck cabins have private heads with separate shower stalls, central air conditioning and measure 90 square feet.

The main salon also serves as the ship’s entertainment center with comfortable couches, a great library, a well stocked bar and evening video showings, presentations and slideshows.

This liveaboard offers a great selection of food and on top of that, their soups, bread, pastries and desserts are made onboard to ensure freshness. Plus there are always plenty to eat, with up to 4 meals a day.

This Mexico liveaboard also offers a choice of entrees, plenty of snacks and mix of both buffet and table service with a menu that combines North American, European and Mexican dishes.

Budget estimate for a trip: $2,500.00- $3,100.00

  1. I am not a certified diver but I have no regrets for not getting certified prior to the trip. We saw massive Great Whites both male and female on the Undersea. WE benefited by having less guests on the trip. There was always cage space available and always sharks to see! Also a shy barracuda and a sea turtle paid a visit while I was in the cage. The third morning we had either a very brave or stupid sea lion hanging out and when the shark came in the seal was harassing the shark. I was worried I would see it eaten but the shark was not too interested in the seal. IT was a dream trip for me, amazing huge portions of food including steak and salmon! Three full meals a day to keep your energy at optimum levels. IF you are a shark this is where and who you want to be with!!! The staff was hospitable and caring!! Captain was easy to look at. Never felt in any danger at all. The sharks were great for putting on a show. You are missing the greatest adventure ever if you don’t go!

  2. I highly recommend anti-sea sick meds!! A patch and a dramamine helped but it was still a challenge to keep from hurling your dinner on the trip down and back.

    • Hi Linda! Thanks for the review and the advice, that’s super helpful!

I just want to make sure, were you on the Nautilus Under Sea, or Nautilus Explorer? I could move your comment to the proper page if you were on the Undersea… same fleet, different boats! :)

      Thank you!
