MV Georgiana Liveaboard Review

Jardines de la Reina is said by some scientists to be one of the best preserved marine eco-systems with the largest fish populations in the Caribbean. An abundance of tropical fish and the possibility to potentially dive with 6 different species of shark that are found in the area; Silky, Reef, Lemon, Black tip, Great Hammerhead and Nurse sharks have all been sighted in the area. The marine park of Jardines de la Reina or “Gardens of the Queen” is only open to a maximum of 900 divers per year making it one of the most untouched diving areas on the planet.

MV Georgiana is 30m in length. Smaller and more intimate in layout compared to Avalon Fleet’s larger offerings Avalon I and Avalon II, she still has accommodation and facilities for 18 divers plus crew.

Cabins and Boat Layout

There are 6 cabins onboard Georgiana. Each stateroom has it’s own private ensuite bathroom facility and air-conditioning allowing you to fine tune the temperature to your requirements so that you can rest comfortably.

Leaving the cabins, there is a communal dining, living and bar area where you may relax and read away from the heat of the sun or, alternatively, socialise with the other divers and discuss your underwater experiences!

Further along you’ll find a dining area where the local Cuban cuisine, mixed with international dishes, is served. There is also a bar where you can chill out at the end of the day’s diving with a beer or cocktail.

Food is served here, a combination of local Cuban delicacies and more traditional western foods. There is also a bar area where you can have a beer, glass of wine, or simply a coffee when the diving is completed.

Outside on the top of the vessel is a sun deck for those wanting to tan. And, also, a BBQ for outdoor dining and taking in the amazing panorama, island views and blue waters.

Hot and cold beverages and snacks are available all day should you become a little hungry between activities.

Diving onboard Georgiana

Georgiana features all the expected safety equipment; first aid, oxygen and, naturally, the staff are first aid trained. Prior to each dive you’ll receive a detailed briefing from the dive crew before experiencing some of the most under-dived and untouched dive sites in the world.

Photographers have rinsing facilities for cameras, DIN adaptors are available for those bringing their own regulators, and tenders/dinghies are on standby with the attentive crew to drop and pick up divers as needed.

Itineraries

This non-seasonal marine park operates all year round. Each week the itineraries run for 7 days/6 nights into the marine park.

Expect to budget approximately EUR2,835 for the 7 day voyage. This equates to EUR405/day. However, please note that this does not include some extras including dive equipment rental (if required), crew tips etc. Please contact us for further details.
