The King Cruiser Wreck is one of the most famous and popular dive sites of Phuket and the Andaman Sea. It is a former 85 meter long and 25 meter wide Steel car and passenger ferry. The King Cruiser Ferry sank in 1997 after hitting the Anemone Reef. Fortunately there were no casualties. The Wreck now lays in 33 m of water on a sandy bottom. It is reserved to Padi Open water advanced or CMAS 2 divers. The wreck is still in very good shape but penetration is not safe anymore. Marine Life is great around the King Cruiser with many yellowtail barracudas but coral didn’t grow so much for the moment. There are also numerous scorpionfishes so be careful when you want to hold on. The currents can sometimes be strong and the visibility is not always good. This dive site can be crowded during the high season. It is possible to dive there from Phuket or from Koh Phi Phi and Ko Lanta on day trip.

Went here in Oct of 2016. Seas were about 4-6ft. Water was very cloudy, couldn’t see that good. Dive was ok, just too many dive boats there at the same time. Not as great as the photo’s. The wreck is partially collapsed so you can’t swim though anymore. If you have a small dive group, with experienced divers, this is a good experience.
