Cat Ppalu dive boat review

Bahamas · Boat guide · Checked 5 October 2026
A smaller catamaran for the Exumas
Cat Ppalu suits divers who want a private sleeping cabin and a small group without paying for a larger en-suite yacht. Its Exumas trips also leave room for snorkelling, kayaking and time ashore, making it a useful option for mixed groups.
A researched planning guide, not an onboard inspection or a new star rating. Affiliate bookings may earn Divezone a commission.
Private cabins, shared bathrooms
Cat Ppalu accommodates 12 guests in six air-conditioned cabins: four doubles and two twins. There are two shared heads with showers; each cabin has a washbasin and mirror. A private cabin here does not mean an en-suite bathroom.
| Cabin type | Layout | Booking consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Four double cabins | One double bed each | Suitable for guests comfortable sharing a bed |
| Two twin cabins | Two separate beds each | Request the bed arrangement for friends or a shared booking |
| Bathrooms | Two shared heads and showers | No en-suite category advertised |
Choose the bed layout before comparing prices. A double cabin should not be treated as interchangeable with a twin berth, and full-boat capacity does not guarantee every preferred cabin is available.
Life onboard and who it suits
The shared salon and outdoor deck make this a social sailing-catamaran trip. A full charter can suit friends or families who want to agree their priorities together; on an individual departure, expect a shared programme. Kayaks, paddleboards and island excursions give non-divers more to consider than the dive count alone. Confirm that the planned activities suit every traveller’s mobility and confidence in the water.
2026 fares and mandatory fees
For a standard 6-night trip, the operator’s dated 2026 table lists the following USD reference prices. These are cruise components, before flights and other personal extras.
| Booking | Base fare | Taxes and fees | Known subtotal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual, per person sharing | $1,845 | $265 | $2,110 |
| Full charter, up to 12 guests | $18,450 | $3,180 | $21,630 total |
Solo use: All Star publishes a 30% supplement on the fare and applicable fuel/port charges. Request an itemised quote rather than applying the percentage indiscriminately to every charge. A full charter is a total boat price; the per-person cost changes with your group size.
Meals, snacks, drinks, tanks and weight belts are included in the published programme. Flights, transfers, equipment rental, insurance and gratuities are additional. The rate page also retains a different fee in introductory prose; the figures above use its explicitly dated 2026 tariff. Confirm the fee on your booking document.
Reefs, walls and island time
The Nassau–Exumas programme offers up to 18 dives in its sample week, with the route and number dependent on weather and conditions. Cat Ppalu is not a dedicated Tiger Beach expedition. Reef and wall diving can be balanced with snorkelling and shore visits, particularly on a private charter where the group agrees its priorities.
Nitrox is not available on Cat Ppalu, according to the operator’s FAQ. If enriched-air diving is central to your plans, compare another boat before choosing on fare alone.
Send your certification level, recent dive history and equipment needs to the operator before booking. Ask whether any planned site needs additional experience and how check-out dives are handled. Do not infer a minimum logged-dive rule from another Bahamas vessel. Follow the crew’s depth, current and no-decompression limits.
Nassau departure: six nights, Saturday to Friday
The operator lists Saturday boarding at noon, a return to Nassau on Thursday afternoon, and Friday disembarkation by 9 am. Confirm the marina and transfer arrangements in your joining documents. An arrival buffer helps protect the cruise from flight delays; flight timing after diving must also follow the operator’s instructions and your dive profile.
Connectivity: published operator materials differ on onboard Wi-Fi. Ask what is actually available on your sailing rather than planning remote work around an assumed connection.

How does it compare?
Morning Star and Sea Explorer offer a lower-budget shared-bunk approach. Aqua Cat adds en-suite accommodation and more shared space, while Bahamas Aggressor II offers en-suite Twin, Deluxe and Balcony categories. Their seven-night programmes should not be compared directly with Cat Ppalu’s six-night fare without adjusting duration and inclusions.

Before you book
Does a private cabin include a private bathroom?
No. The six private sleeping cabins share two heads with showers. Each cabin has its own washbasin.
Can I dive Nitrox on Cat Ppalu?
The operator’s FAQ says Nitrox is not available. Consider Aqua Cat or Bahamas Aggressor II if you need an enriched-air option.
What is the 2026 individual cruise subtotal?
The dated tariff lists $1,845 plus $265 taxes and fees, or $2,110 per person sharing for six nights, before travel and personal extras.
Is a full charter always cheaper per person?
No. The $21,630 reference is a total for the charter including listed fees; divide it by your actual paying group, not automatically by 12.
Is Cat Ppalu appropriate for non-divers?
The programme includes activities such as snorkelling, kayaking and island visits. Discuss individual needs and the balance of activities, especially on a shared departure.
