BLUE and the Fun Azul name
Fun Azul Fleet markets its Maldives operation as BLUE, previously FUN AZUL MALDIVES. The partner lists the current BLUE as built in 2019. Older Fun Azul descriptions should not be used to infer the age or layout of this yacht.
Which cabin should you book?
| Deck | Cabin choice | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Lower | Deluxe twin or double | Portholes; choose separate beds or a double. |
| Main | Master twin or double | Confirm room number and window. |
| Upper | Ocean View twin or double | Confirm the bed arrangement. |
Cabins have air-conditioning and private bathrooms. Specify whether you need separate beds, a double, a view or sole occupancy; a category name alone does not settle those details.
Life aboard Blue Maldives
BLUE has a saloon with a bar, a top-deck sunbathing area and a separate dhoni for diving equipment. A camera room is advertised for storage and charging. Before travelling with a large camera rig, ask about worktop space and available sockets rather than assuming a dedicated room meets every photographer’s needs.
Food on BLUE
Meals are served buffet-style, with wine included at dinner. Local food and vegetarian options are listed. Confirm special diets and drink inclusions for your booking; the guest reports below show that opinions of the food differ.
MV Blue has its very own diving dhoni, which will be your dive centre while on the cruise. These smaller diving boats allow access to dive sites while keeping equipment off the mother ship. A cruise is an opportunity to discover the colourful and lively reefs of the Maldives.
Travelling with a non-diver on Blue Maldives?
Confirm a non-diving place directly for Blue Maldives and the chosen departure. A current boat-specific acceptance policy and companion fare have not been established here. Ask whether the booking is a shared cruise berth or a whole-yacht charter, and obtain the price for your dates, duration, cabin and occupancy, including taxes and transfers. Skipping dives does not by itself establish a discount.
Request a practical programme for the companion: which guided snorkeling sessions or island excursions are actually planned, whether equipment and guidance are included, and which activities cost extra. Confirm age or supervision conditions where relevant. A diving or surfing charter may leave a non-participating guest aboard for substantial periods; do not assume that a tender, sundeck or an old excursion description guarantees daily outings.
Diving, routes and experience
The partner lists 22 guests while the operator’s scheduled programme can allocate 20 places. Confirm your actual group and cabin.
Check the itinerary attached to your departure. Malé–Malé routes avoid the domestic-flight logistics of many southern trips. Currents can change the site order and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. See the Maldives diving guide for seasons and atolls.
Get the minimum logged dives, certification, required equipment and no-fly interval in writing from the operator. A statement that a boat welcomes beginners does not mean every route or dive is suitable for them.
The operator’s customary Ari route covers the Malé, Ari and Rasdhoo areas. This map does not represent a southern expedition.
Text itinerary: Malé / North Malé → South Malé area → South Ari / Maamigili → Maaya Thila / North Ari → Rasdhoo → Malé / North Malé. The order is illustrative, not a confirmed departure programme. Confirm the boarding point, direction and daily stops with the operator.
The lines connect reference areas; they are not safe sailing tracks. The captain selects channels and sites according to conditions. No wildlife encounter or individual stop is guaranteed.
Dive sites and geographic precision
- South Ari / Maamigili: South Ari diving region, shown near Maamigili. Whale-shark encounters are never guaranteed.
- Rasdhoo: Rasdhoo diving area, marked at the island reference rather than a precise reef entry.

Lines show indicative connections between regions, not navigation tracks. Arrows show the example direction; departures can run in reverse, and stops vary with weather, currents and the chosen cruise.

Budget, inclusions and extras
Current departure listings were checked on 6 October 2026. Obtain a cabin-level quote for your dates. Compare currency, nights, shared or private occupancy, taxes, fuel and service charges before choosing.
| Budget line | Before paying |
|---|---|
| Cruise | Match dates, nights, cabin, currency and occupancy. |
| Mandatory extras | Ask for taxes, fuel/service charges, park fees and compulsory transfers as a written total. |
| Diving extras | Check Nitrox, rentals, larger tanks, courses and private guiding. |
| Travel | Add international flights, any domestic flights, hotels, insurance and optional spending. |
Request a written shared-berth or sole-occupancy quote. Availability in a double cabin does not establish the price for one guest.
Do not compare headline prices as final totals. Until every compulsory charge is confirmed for the same departure, the all-in comparison remains incomplete. Use our budget guide and travel guide to build the rest of the trip.

What guests say about BLUE
BLUE’s small LiveAboard.com review sample is mixed, so the individual details matter more than a broad recommendation.
Levente B — 10 February 2025: Levente enjoyed the meals and helpful staff on a Deep South trip. He found the diving challenging but rewarding. That combination may appeal to experienced divers, but it does not establish suitability for every ability.
Michael B — 1 September 2025: Michael liked the spacious rooms and friendly crew but reported no hot water in cabin 2, cold or repetitive meals and repeated dive sites. Ask for current answers about water service and itinerary planning; this dated complaint does not prove those issues persist.
Linda P (29 April 2025) also wanted fewer nights in Malé harbour, while Mark P (1 September 2025) questioned the camera facilities. Ask for the final-night schedule and photographs of the camera workspace.
BLUE: questions before booking
Should I choose an upper or lower cabin?
Choose by bed layout, window and access rather than the category name alone. Request a current cabin plan and an exact room allocation with your quote.
Can I travel solo?
Request a written shared-berth or sole-occupancy quote. Availability in a double cabin does not establish the price for one guest.
Is the listed fare my full holiday cost?
No. Add all mandatory cruise extras and your travel costs. Promotions and remaining cabin spaces can change.
How do BLUE’s routes differ?
The operator describes an Ari route through North Malé, South Malé, Ari and Rasdhoo, a July–November Baa route, and seasonal equatorial trips toward Gaafu. Choose the departure itinerary, not just the boat name; weather and currents can alter stops.
What should a photographer clarify?
Ask for current photographs of the camera workspace, charging arrangements and rinse facilities. Also request an update on hot water and the dive schedule in light of the guest feedback above.
