Start with the right shortlist

Blue Force One24 guests · 12 cabins · 42 m

Blue Force One

Blue Force One suits travellers who put outdoor living and a sea-view cabin high on their wish list. The current operator lists 24 guests in 12 cabins, replacing this review’s old 20-guest, 10-cabin description.

The observed departure quoted a 70% supplement for sole occupancy. A private-cabin price is not the same as one berth in a shared cabin.

Carpe Novo22 guests · 12 cabins

Carpe Novo

Carpe Novo is particularly worth comparing if you want a dedicated single cabin or a separate camera room. The operator’s own page gives both 42 m and 43 m lengths; we do not use that small discrepancy to rank the boat.

A dedicated Single Suite is different from sole use of a twin cabin. The observed departure quoted 60% for private occupancy, while its Single Suites were full.

Emperor Serenity26 guests · 13 cabins · 40 m

Emperor Serenity

Choose Serenity for its cabin choice and spacious social areas. The current operator specifications describe the replacement vessel, so the older photos and the previous 8/2/3 cabin split have been replaced in this guide.

The observed departure quoted a 50% private-occupancy supplement. Confirm the current amount; Emperor also offers a same-sex share arrangement.

The Maldives are a fantastic diving destination, promising picturesque landscapes and incredible underwater adventures. A little more comfort can make the surface intervals special too. Start with what matters to you: a sea view, separate beds, a private cabin or room for camera equipment.

More ways to upgrade

Scubaspa Yin & Yang deserves a look for spa-and-diving couples: specify Scuba, Spa or a mixed package before comparing prices. Ocean Divine offers a smaller guest group, while Carpe Vita offers upper-deck VIP Suites. Ask for the actual room and package; the word luxury is not a standard inclusion list.

What does a cabin upgrade buy?

It usually buys a different room, position or bed arrangement. It does not automatically buy a separate dive itinerary, private guide or guaranteed wildlife encounter.

Cabin upgrade examples checked 6 October 2026
Boat / departure Reference fare per person How to read it
Emperor Serenity · 22–29 November 2026 · 7 nights Lower-deck shared twin EUR 2,233; main-deck suite twin EUR 2,478; upper-deck suite twin EUR 2,541 Promotional examples for the same departure: upgrades of EUR 245 and EUR 308. Confirm all mandatory costs and current space.
Blue Force One · 17–24 October 2026 · 7 nights Shared Deluxe EUR 1,767; Junior Suite EUR 1,945 EUR 178 difference on this departure. Master categories were full when checked; these are not whole-holiday totals.
Carpe Novo · 22–29 November 2026 · 7 nights Standard shared GBP 2,196 Single and Junior Suites were full when checked. GBP is kept as quoted; do not rank it directly against EUR.

Look beyond the word “luxury”

Ask for the actual cabin number, current deck plan, window type and bed configuration. Check whether Wi-Fi, drinks, Nitrox and transfers are included, and whether advertised spa services need advance booking. For photographers, Carpe Novo’s dedicated camera room may be more useful than a larger television. For couples, a confirmed double bed may matter more than the category name.

Maldives itinerary map

Compare Central Atolls, North, South and Deep South routes on the same satellite map. Tick one or more layers; the map adjusts to your selection. Zoom in to see islands and reef outlines, and select a numbered stop for details.

Lines show indicative connections between regions, not navigation tracks. Arrows show the example direction; departures can run in reverse, and stops vary with weather, currents and the chosen cruise.

Routes at a glance

  • Central Atolls (C): Malé → South Malé → Vaavu → South Ari → North Ari → Rasdhoo → Malé.
A classic loop from the Malé area. The order and dive sites vary with the departure and conditions.
  • North (N): Malé → Lhaviyani → Baa → Rasdhoo → North Ari → Malé.
An indicative Northern Highlights loop. Some longer versions also visit South Ari. Hanifaru Bay is a snorkeling stop, not a scuba dive.
  • South (S): Malé → South Malé → Vaavu → Meemu → Thaa → Laamu → Huvadhu → Fuvahmulah → Addu / Gan.
A long southbound crossing, based on Southern Shark Adventure; reverse departures also operate. Shorter southern trips cover only part of this route.
  • Deep South (D): Huvadhu / Kooddoo → Fuvahmulah → Addu / Gan, or the reverse.
A southern one-way example, separate from Malé. Arrange flights around the actual embarkation and disembarkation airports.

Confirm ports, transfers and any domestic flights before booking.

Luxury with a non-diving companion

Choose a holiday programme for your companion as well as a comfortable cabin. Blue Force One explicitly welcomes non-divers, with a Jacuzzi, lounge and sun decks for time aboard. Confirm the companion fare for your exact cabin and departure: a suite upgrade does not establish a non-diver discount or a daily guided snorkeling programme.

For a spa-focused alternative, Scubaspa Maldives includes a choice of packages in its seven-night rate: the Spa Holiday offers eight treatments, while Scuba & Spa combines six dives and four treatments. Non-divers are explicitly catered for. Choose the package when booking; unused dives cannot simply be exchanged for treatments. Request the cabin/occupancy-specific price and the costs of extra treatments, guidance and excursions. Snorkeling equipment is listed among package inclusions, but water access and island visits depend on the route and conditions. Scubaspa package details, checked 7 October 2026.

A confirmed discount example: Carpe Diem Maldives publishes a 10% non-diver discount for Carpe Diem, Carpe Vita and Carpe Novo, not combinable with its other discounts and arranged directly with the operator. Ask which quoted fare components qualify and obtain the final per-person total for your cabin, occupancy and 7- or 10-night departure; do not apply 10% to flights, taxes or every extra yourself. The published package includes a beach BBQ only when weather and government permission allow; snorkeling and private-charter activities need departure-specific confirmation. Operator terms checked 7 October 2026.

Compare the Blue Force One, Carpe Novo and Scubaspa profiles. Get included versus paid activities in writing; a long passage or a demanding dive site can still mean an afternoon aboard.

Before you reserve your suite

  1. Match the cabin and travel dates to the itinerary you want.
  2. Confirm service, tax, fuel and park charges in the final quote.
  3. Ask what non-diving companions can do on that exact sailing.
  4. Arrange dietary needs, transfers and rental equipment in advance.
  5. Check the route’s experience requirements: comfort onboard does not remove currents underwater.

Older recommendations

Previous editions featured Maldives Princess, Maldives Siren, Ocean Divine, Orion, Manthiri and an older Aggressor description. These historical recommendations and their 2016 fares should not be treated as current booking evidence. Verify the exact vessel, cabin plan and departure schedule before paying; a missing listing alone does not prove retirement.

Your booking questions, answered

Which boat should a solo traveller compare?

Carpe Novo has dedicated Single Suites. Compare their availability and fare with a cabin-share arrangement or sole occupancy on other boats.

Does a suite include a private dive guide?

Do not assume that. Ask whether private guiding can be arranged and whether it carries a separate charge.

Should I compare prices per night?

Use the same dates, cabin occupancy, currency and route first. Dividing a fare by nights is useful, but it does not tell you how many diving days you receive.

Are flights and hotels included?

Do not assume so. Add international flights, any domestic legs, pre/post-cruise nights, airport transfers and your insurance to the quoted cruise total.

Can a beginner join?

Send the operator your qualification, logged dives and date of your most recent dive. Acceptance depends on the actual route. A higher cabin price does not make current-exposed sites easier.

Can a non-diving partner come?

Ask what is actually scheduled for non-divers: guided snorkeling, island visits, spa appointments and rest time differ by boat and itinerary.

How do I choose the season?

Choose your route and wildlife priorities together. The diving guide explains seasonal tendencies; no operator can guarantee a manta ray or whale shark encounter.
