Egyptian Red Sea · Boat comparison

Find the cabin and diving week that suit you

For a short Sharm holiday, compare the Snefro and Freedom boats. For an eighteen-guest week, look at Emperor Asmaa, Snefro Spirit or Blue Force 2. For a larger cabin, compare Emperor Elite’s suites with the actual room offered on Ghazala Explorer or Sea Serpent Glory. Then match the route, dates and mandatory extras before choosing a fare.

“Seven nights” does not settle how much diving is included. A northern reef-and-wreck circuit, an offshore BDE week and a longer southern expedition have different crossing times, site choices and experience demands. BDE means Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone; it is a route choice, not a cabin or comfort rating.

Compare the cabins, group sizes and programmes

Friends sharing should distinguish side-by-side twins from bunks. Couples should reserve a double-bed category explicitly: “double occupancy” only means two people share the cabin. For a solo booking, establish whether the quote buys a shared berth, a dedicated single or private use of a two-person cabin.

What does the quoted fare actually cover?

Use the cabin comparisons within each departure to judge an upgrade. The references below cover different dates and currencies, so they do not establish a cheapest boat. Amounts are per person in shared accommodation unless a row says otherwise. They are reference prices, not a promise of a remaining place.

Superior and Elite cabin references checked 24 October; Snefro Love and Scuba Scene references checked during the October review. Annual Royal Evolution and Aggressor tariffs and Tala’s calendar rechecked 25 October 2026. Aggressor fee basis: Know Before You Go, updated 18 June 2026.

Blue Force 2’s checked 2026 terms separate €120 in fees and €110 in service charges from the fare. Do not apply those €230 of extras to a different boat. Conversely, adding another generic “park fee” to an Emperor offer would double-count a charge already included in its advertised policy.

Which itinerary should you compare?

Choose Sharm el Sheikh for a Sinai-focused trip, Hurghada for many northern departures, and Port Ghalib for many southern programmes. Some offshore weeks run one way between Hurghada and Port Ghalib. Confirm both ports and the assigned marina before arranging flights; a boat’s usual home port does not establish your departure’s transfer.

Select routes independently. Solid connections follow a published sample sequence; routes without a confirmed order show numbered destination references only. Connections are indicative, not navigational tracks or guaranteed stops. Reverse trips and weather changes alter the plan. Port pins identify areas, not boarding jetties.

Check the diving requirements for the actual route

Operator thresholds differ; meeting a number alone does not establish suitability
Boat / routePublished requirement
King Snefro · Sinai ClassicOpen Water and 15 logged dives to join; Thistlegorm requires Advanced Open Water and at least 20. A dive in the previous year is required. Source
Royal Evolution · offshore islandsAdvanced certification and at least 50 logged dives. Source
Emperor · Brothers, Daedalus, Rocky or ZabargadAdvanced / accepted 30 m qualification and 50 logged dives for the named marine-park itineraries. Source
All Star Scuba SceneAdvanced or accepted Deep Diver qualification; marine parks require at least 30 logged dives. The operator recommends more experience for central/southern trips. Source
Tala · BDEAdvanced and 50 logged dives, with recent diving within six months. Confirm the current operator acceptance for your logbook. Source

Tell the operator about your recent diving, currents and drift experience, depth qualification and ability to deploy an SMB. Confirm the equipment, insurance and medical paperwork required by your chosen trip. A northern itinerary that includes Thistlegorm should not be treated as an unrestricted beginner cruise. Wildlife sightings, visibility and access to a specific site remain uncertain.

What can a non-diver do aboard?

Confirm acceptance and the non-diver fare for the named sailing. On All Star Scuba Scene the fare is the same, snorkelling is only occasional and there are no regular shore excursions; the pool, reading and deck time are the main alternatives between meals. Asmaa and Oceanos advertise family programmes, but a dedicated family week offers a different experience from an offshore diving itinerary. Do not assume daily snorkelling, island visits or a discount simply because a boat accepts companions.

Renamed, on-request and historical boats

Turquoise now operates as Red Sea Aggressor IV. Royal Evolution and the older Red Sea RE Aggressor profile refer to the same vessel. Amelia is Discovery I; Samira is Discovery II; Contessa Mia is Sea Serpent Contessa. Miss Nouran and Glorious Miss Nouran are different boats. Confirm the actual vessel name on your booking, especially where an older review uses a previous name.

Red Sea boat comparison questions

Which Red Sea liveaboard is cheapest?

There is no reliable universal winner from these references. Compare the same departure season, nights, cabin and occupancy, then add that operator’s mandatory charges. A four-night safari and a seven-night offshore week are different purchases.

Is Nitrox included?

Emperor and the checked King Snefro offers include it for qualified divers, subject to their terms and availability. Royal Evolution, Tala, Blue Force 2 and Scuba Scene list it separately. Certification and any larger-cylinder charge still need checking.

Can I book a cabin without a roommate?

Yes, where a dedicated single or sole-use allocation is offered. Ghazala Explorer lists a single cabin. Emperor Superior’s same-sex sharing guarantee can avoid a supplement if a matching roommate is unavailable, but that is not a request for private use.

Does an upper-deck cabin always have a double bed?

No. Blue Force 2, JP Marine, MY Blue, Blue Seas and several other boats offer upper-deck twins. Ask for the cabin number and bed layout; a category name alone can hide a bunk, a double or convertible beds.

Should I fly to Hurghada, Marsa Alam or Sharm el Sheikh?

Use the embarkation and disembarkation ports on the actual departure. Sharm serves many Sinai trips; Hurghada serves many northern weeks; Marsa Alam is close to Port Ghalib. One-way cruises and operator transfer timetables can change the best airport choice.

Is a non-diver welcome?

Ask for acceptance, fare and activities for the specific trip. Family programmes can suit mixed groups better than offshore diving weeks. Snorkelling and shore excursions are not automatic, and Scuba Scene’s non-divers pay the same fare.

Are the mapped stops guaranteed?

No. Connected routes are indicative operator sample sequences. Other route layers show numbered geographic references with sailing order unconfirmed. Weather, permits and the cruise team determine the final diving. The separate site map is for trip planning.

Why is a boat listed by an operator but unavailable on a booking site?

It may be sold through another channel, on charter, awaiting a schedule update or unavailable for your dates. Ask for written confirmation of the vessel, departure and cabin. An empty calendar alone does not establish retirement.

What should the booking confirmation include?

Boat identity, departure dates, both ports, cabin number and beds, occupancy, fare currency, every mandatory supplement, included gases and transfers, cancellation terms and experience requirements. Resolve conflicting fee descriptions before paying.
