Five cabins, with a useful bathroom distinction

Freedom VIII measures 22 × 5.7 metres. All five cabins have air-conditioning; three have private bathrooms and the other two twins share facilities. That distinction matters more to a comfortable booking than the headline eleven-guest capacity.

A shared twin is the reference accommodation for the advertised package. Couples wanting the double and solo travellers wanting sole occupancy need the appropriate supplement in their quote. For a group charter, agreeing the room allocation beforehand avoids leaving the bathroom decision until boarding.

Life between dives

The indoor salon and dining room are roomy and cozy, with air-conditioning and an entertainment system. Curved upholstered seating follows the wooden walls around the tables, giving the group a natural place to gather for meals or look through the day’s photographs.

There’s one sundeck at the bow, with loungers and an open view of the Red Sea. The top deck is partially shaded, with a comfortable seating area: a welcome alternative when the sun has had enough of your attention for one day. These are the boat’s main relaxation spaces, with the diving equipment kept on the working deck.

What’s on the menu?

Meals are served as a buffet, with local dishes, snacks and drinking water, tea, coffee and soft drinks. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary requests can be discussed ahead of the trip so the kitchen can plan supplies. Alcohol is charged separately.

The salon has television and music facilities, and Wi-Fi is advertised aboard. Offshore reception is a separate matter; a safari is easier to enjoy when an important call does not depend on it.

Travelling with a non-diver?

Private itineraries can be arranged around snorkelling as well as diving; the non-diver fare and activities for a shared Freedom VIII departure need confirmation.

Which northern Red Sea itinerary fits your holiday?

Freedom VIII’s documented programme is in Egypt. “Deep North” here means the Dahab coast and the northern Gulf of Aqaba side of Sinai, not a voyage through neighbouring countries. The boat starts from the Umbi Sharks Bay jetty; a dated trip plan should identify the return arrangements and boarding night.

The four current route families below are offered in different lengths. Three- and four-night mini-safaris suit a holiday split between land and boat, while longer trips give more time for the northern circuit. A shorter trip is still a diving safari, with experience requirements and weather-dependent crossings.

The November and December examples were displayed by a booking agent when checked on 23 October 2026. A three-night “Mini Safari” also appears for 19–22 December, but that title alone does not identify its reef sequence. Partner pages with no online availability do not establish that the boat has stopped operating.

Other catalogue variants

Older undated listings also name Mini Thistlegorm, Mini Tiran, Mini Ras Mohammed–Tiran, Northern Wrecks & Reefs including Abu Nuhas, Northern Standard, Ras Mohammed & Wrecks and tailor-made trips, with durations from one night. They are not confirmed current departures. A booking under one of these labels needs its own itinerary rather than assuming it matches one of the four current families.

The map locates verified reference sites for the four current families. It is partial: the Dahab coast, Million Hope, other unverified stops and the exact joining berth are not plotted. Lines are omitted because these references do not establish a complete sailing track.

Dive sites in context

Thistlegorm is a substantial wreck dive with conditions that can change at the mooring and below it. Dunraven is a different wreck experience at Beacon Rock; neither name implies that penetration is included. Ras Mohammed and Tiran bring the focus back to reefs, walls and currents, with the actual dive chosen for that day’s conditions and the group.

The separate map places the named northern reef and wreck references, including Abu Nuhas from the unconfirmed catalogue variant. It does not promise visits or animal encounters.

Experience and Nitrox

The operator requires Advanced Open Water or equivalent and at least 30 logged dives. Some agencies require 35, so the conditions attached to your booking can be stricter. Wreck penetration and the Blue Hole arch are not implied by a route name and require separate, appropriate training and planning.

The dive deck has cylinder stations and access to a Zodiac. Standard cylinders are 12-litre aluminium, with DIN and INT fittings. Freedom VIII has no Nitrox compressor: a limited supply can be loaded by prior arrangement. Nitrox is an extra in the operator’s terms despite an included-Nitrox label on a partner listing; an unlimited week of enriched-air fills should not be assumed.

Building a realistic Freedom VIII budget

The advertised reference starts at €150 per person per day, based on shared accommodation. It is not a priced quotation for every sailing. The package includes meals, standard tanks and weights, guiding and Sharm airport transfers; a private double or single-use cabin changes the accommodation cost.

At the €15 daily park reference, three charged days add €45 and seven add €105. Those examples explain the fee scale, not a complete trip price. Because agents’ lists differ on park bundles, transfers and Nitrox, the useful comparison is the written total for the same dates, cabin and inclusions.

Joining the boat

Sharm El Sheikh is the relevant airport for the home jetty, rather than Hurghada or Marsa Alam. Boarding the previous evening is normally arranged for a morning departure; your confirmation should settle which night is included. The final dive and flight time need to leave the required no-fly interval, so a last-day dive cannot be promised independently of your flight.
