SpoilSport
This 30 meters long very stable vessel is one of the best of Australia. Custom built for the renowned Mike Ball Dive Expeditions, the Spoilsport is the only liveaboard with a permit to go watch the Minke Whales.
The Spoilsport was specifically designed with a twin hull so it provides a great stability regardless of the sea conditions. The cabins are divided into four distinct categories. First, the 2 budget/bunk cabins have no window and the bathroom is shared. The 4 Club cabins are bunk-style as well, no window but, with an ensuite bathroom. The third category is Standard cabin (4), this includes 2 single beds, a window and an ensuite bathroom. Finally, the Premium cabins (4) have a double deb, ocean view and ensuite bathroom. Therefore, the 14 comfortable cabins can welcome maximum 28 guests. There is an on-board crew of 12, including the dive team, master diver and the chef, to ensure every guest’s comfort all along the journey.
There are a lot of communal areas on the Spoilsport and all are spacious, allowing everybody to have it’s own space despite the large number of guests. The salon and the large sundeck, with optional shading, will sure please the most discerning vacationer. All meals are cooked by a chef and included in the liveaboard’s price. Plus, snacks, served through the day, soft drinks and Australian wines, at dinner, are also included.
Diving wise, the photographers will be pleased with a huge, well-built, camera table. Plus, cameras have their own rinse tanks, making sure they stay salt free. The dive platform is roomy and was thought to make water entries and exits easier.

Spirit of Freedom
This 37 meters vessel was built in 1992. Of course, it has been upgraded now and then with new technologies and amenities. Most importantly, a top of the line air-conditioning system was installed in 2008. Just like it’s direct competitor, the Spoilsport, the Spirit of Freedom offers 3, 4 and 7 nights cruise to the Coral Sea and the Great Barrier Reef.
The cabins
Customers can choose between 11 well-appointed cabins. Indeed, every cabin has air-conditioning as well as an en-suite bathroom. The crew is offering to service the cabins everyday.
There are five different types of cabins, which allows to accommodate everyone’s budget. The Ocean View Deluxe cabin is located on the top deck, so it has its own stairways to the main deck. The room includes a double bed, bed side tables, a desk, wardrobe, and a television with DVD player. Furthermore, the Ocean View Standard cabin is also located on the top deck. While slightly smaller than the ‘deluxe’, it also includes a double bed, wardrobe and television. Another is the Stateroom, located on the lower deck, it features lots of space and a queen bed. Obviously, it has all the amenities stated above such as a roomy bathroom, wardrobe space, air-con, TV, etc. Finally, there are 6 Double & Twin Share cabins as well as 2 Quad Share cabins. All those rooms, on the lower deck, are also including an en-suite bathroom, wardrobe and air-conditioning.
The dive deck is of sufficient size to have everyone gearing up comfortably. Nitrox is available. For photographers, there is a separate rinse tank and a camera table at your disposal. Deck towels are provided after each dive and there are fresh water showers on the aft deck. After the dives, guest are invited to take it easy on the top deck, where they can relax on the loungers or have a chat in the salon. Food is carefully prepared by the chefs, which can cater to specific requirement. The dining salon is beautiful, clean and roomy.
