MV Ocean Quest dive boat review
The MV Ocean Quest is one of a series of vessels operating on the east coast of Australia and offering voyages to see the legendary Great Barrier Reef.

Ocean Quest is a 36m catamaran vessel approximately 13m in beam with the facilities to accommodate 48 guests. This compares with rivals such as Scubapro III which is 24m long and able to cater to 32 guests giving her an almost identical length:guest ratio.
With a cruising speed of 13 knots Ocean Quest is also speedy and able to quickly and easily transport you to the best dive sites.
Vessel Cabins and Layout
In terms of cabins, over her 3 decks Ocean Quest offers the following:
- 4 x double suites.
- 18 x twin-share cabins.
- 1 x quad-share cabin.
All of the cabins have en-suite bathroom facilities, air-conditioning and TVs to ensure you have a comfortable and relaxing stay onboard. The vast majority of the cabins have views of the ocean outside. And all have power sockets (Australian configuration).
Outside of the cabins there is a large lounge area outside on the wheelhouse deck where you can relax, exchange stories and photos with your dive buddies, read a book or simply take a siesta.
Also in this area you’ll find a bar with entertainment system where you can chill out with a cold drink after a day of taking in the amazing aquatic life and soaking up the Australian sunshine.
All meals are included while onboard, however, please note that alcoholic beverages and addition snacks such as crisps/chips and cookies must be paid for.
Also on the main deck is a large dining room/dining area which is amply proportioned and able to comfortably seat the 48 guest at meal times.
Diving Onboard Ocean Quest
Diving aboard Ocean Quest can be up to 4-5 dives a day. Introductory dives are available for a charge and it should be noted that, as is often the case in Australia, a dive guide carries an additional supplement. Basic scuba diving equipment is included in the price, but extras such as onboard course, nitrox or further training of course carries a supplement.
Itineraries
2 day to 7 day duration liveaboard itineraries to the outer barrier reef are available depending on time available. Prices are approximately USD154/day making this an affordable trip for all.
