Koimala dive boat review

Koimala: a Maldives charter at a glance

Koimala is a six-cabin timber charter boat in the Voyages Maldives fleet. Diving and surfing are available by arrangement, making the agreed charter programme more important than a generic Maldives itinerary.

Ask the operator about Koimala

Koimala vessel details and history

The operator dates Koimala’s construction to 1994 and lists four crew. Four cabins have private bathrooms; two use shared facilities. Current cabin photographs and descriptions show bunks, correcting the old claim that all en-suite cabins have double beds.

Life aboard Koimala

The main deck displays an indoor lounge with a TV/DVD and music system. That’s also where meals are served if eaten indoors. Otherwise, head outside toward the bow and you’ll find an open-air area with dining tables and space to lounge around. Upstairs, the sundeck offers a great view of the Maldives and a spot to stargaze at night, away from the city lights.

Koimala itinerary and diving arrangements

Choose the route with Voyages Maldives when requesting the charter. Ask for the departure and arrival ports, likely atolls, number of diving days and weather alternatives. No current boat-specific sequence of named scuba sites was verified.

For a scuba charter, ask the operator to specify the dive support boat, guides, planned dives, equipment, gas options and experience requirements. Confirm your final dive time and onward travel schedule with the dive team.

Travelling with a non-diver on Koimala?

Confirm a non-diving place directly for Koimala and the chosen departure. A current boat-specific acceptance policy and companion fare have not been established here. Ask whether the booking is a shared cruise berth or a whole-yacht charter, and obtain the price for your dates, duration, cabin and occupancy, including taxes and transfers. Skipping dives does not by itself establish a discount.

Request a practical programme for the companion: which guided snorkeling sessions or island excursions are actually planned, whether equipment and guidance are included, and which activities cost extra. Confirm age or supervision conditions where relevant. A diving or surfing charter may leave a non-participating guest aboard for substantial periods; do not assume that a tender, sundeck or an old excursion description guarantees daily outings.

Voyages’ recommended seven-night fleet route, shown for charter planning. Vessel availability, diving equipment and the actual programme must be agreed for Koimala. This is not a confirmed scheduled sailing.

Text itinerary: Malé / North Malé → South Malé area → Rasdhoo → Maaya Thila / North Ari → South Ari / Maamigili → Malé / North Malé. The order is illustrative, not a confirmed departure programme. Confirm the boarding point, direction and daily stops with the operator.

The lines connect reference areas; they are not safe sailing tracks. The captain selects channels and sites according to conditions. No wildlife encounter or individual stop is guaranteed.

Dive sites and geographic precision
  • Maaya Thila / North Ari: Maaya Thila is named in the fleet’s recommended route. Confirm inclusion for your charter.
  • Rasdhoo: Rasdhoo area: the fleet route mentions Rasdhoo Madivaru. Marker uses the island reference, not the exact dive-entry point.

Price, inclusions and transfers

Request a dated quote in a stated currency, with cabin occupancy and the full group total where relevant. Check meals, drinking water, airport transfers, taxes, activity equipment and gratuities separately; a cruising package and a scuba charter can have different inclusions. Confirm the actual meeting point and boarding time before booking flights.

What guests say about Koimala

A recent independent review sample clearly identifying this Koimala vessel was not verified. We therefore cannot support a representative rating or a claim that it is the fleet’s most comfortable boat. Ask for recent charter references and a current cabin plan.

Koimala booking questions

Are all six Koimala cabins en-suite?

Four are listed as en-suite. Two bunk cabins use shared facilities; specify your preference when requesting a quote.

Does an en-suite cabin mean a double bed?

No. The current operator description and photographs show bunk arrangements. Agree the actual bed layout for each guest.

Is Koimala larger than Kethi?

The operator lists Koimala at 22.2 m long and 7.3 m wide, compared with Kethi’s 21.6 m and 6.5 m. These dimensions do not guarantee a smoother passage.

Are diving and Nitrox included automatically?

Diving is on request. Get the dive support, qualification requirements, gas availability and fees written into the charter offer.

Updated 7 October 2026 from the operator specification. Current charter availability, final route and price require a booking-specific confirmation. Photographs are supplied by Voyages Maldives; their capture dates are not verified.
