MS Ombak Putih dive boat review
The 42 meters Ombak Putih sails the waters of Indonesia as a traditional phinisi liveaboard vessel. Built in 1995 and thoroughly renovated in 2015, the Ombak Putih is not like the usual liveaboard. Indeed, it offers cultural immersion cruises, with snorkeling and other land and water activities available.
.
Boat Cabins & Layout
The Ombak Putih offer 12 comfortable cabins for a maximum of 24 guests. As a floating 5 stars hotel, the Ombak Putih features lavish and comfortable accommodations. The cabins are complete with a full en-suite bathroom, individual climate control and towel refresh service. Also, the cabins have ample closet space.
You can stay in the type of cabin you want as there are 3 different possible accommodation. Indeed, you can either stay in a twin-shared cabin with bunk-beds, in a double bed cabin or in the triple cabin. All rooms are located on the lower deck.

Ombak Putih’s On-board Facilities
The Ombak Putih’s lounge and dining room are combined to provide one massive social area. You will find a flat screen TV as well as complete entertainment system and small library of books.
Of course, there is little space for boredom of the Ombak Putih with activities such as snorkeling, volcano hikes, villages visits etc., on the schedule.
.
Head outside to enjoy the ever-changing, breathtaking views of Indonesia. There is a massive sundeck on the top deck plus an outdoor lounge area on the main deck.
On the top deck, you’ll find cozy loungers and a stunning 360 view of Indonesia‘s unique landscape. Indeed, it’s also the perfect spot to enjoy a drink at night and contemplate a starry sky.
.
Vessel Layout
The sturdy Ombak Putih is a one of a kind ship in Indonesia. Indeed, there are only a few cultural excursions cruises around. The Adelaar compares to the Ombak Putih in style and in type of cruises. The Adelaar is a much smaller boat, perfect for small charter group and offers mostly scuba diving cruises. The Ombak Putih is the perfect boat for the non diver that likes snorkeling and simply, sailing.

Hi!
I’m Jacques, from France! I’m fascinated by the underwater world but I’m not quite a diver. Would a cruise like this one be recommended to me ? I would gladly snorkel and discover Indonesia’s remote areas culture. Are there other boat’s offering this but perhaps cheaper ?
Thank you!
