Guide in Paradise

Palapas Ventana is an Eco Tourism, Fishing, Kiting and overall Adventure Resort. As guides your responsibilities are to support and promote activities with clients and to work as a team with maintenance and other employees at Palapas Ventana
The following document is an overview of the job of Activity GuideMaintenance at Palapas Ventana.

General responsibilities
Lead group activities on land and ocean
You will be the coordinating interface between Palapas Ventana and clients. The responsibility includes but not limited to, preparing for the activity, guiding the activity, cleaning up and storing gear after the activity.
Client interaction and activity planning
Includes but not limited to rotating schedule for activities planning in the restaurant at dinner time and check in time for clients, meetin g with walk in guests and arranging activities, meet and greet new arrivals and explaining our program and getting a feel for their interests during their stay. planning next day captains and populating the activity board with all details for the next days activities.
Property maintenance
Non activity days are maintenance days and projects are assigned in the morning by the assigned project manager. Projects will include Kite Support and seasonal activities for client support
Work Culture
Be on time and ready to work.
Be neat in appearance
Respect work hours
Attend all group welcome dinners as announced in white collared shirt provided by Palapas Ventana
Wear other Palapas provided collared shirts on normal planning nights
Act proffesional on campus and especially in the restaurant.

Activities
Palapas Ventana has a variety of activities and combinations of activities that people travel here to discover. The list below is a short example of the activities we offer and to get a real knowledge of the activities offered you need to refer to the activities binder in the restaurant. Within each major activity there are sub activities based on the activity format. There are instructional guides for each activity on Google Drive and you will be expected to refer to these guides every time you lead an activity
Scuba Diving, Snorkeling
Spearfishing, Rod and Reel fishing, Fly Fishing
Kite Boarding, Wind Surfing
Whalesharks, Graywhales
Painted Caves, Punta Gordo hike, El Triunfo/Cactus Sanctuary, Waterfall/Hot Springs Santiago, La Paz Tour.

Lead activities
As a Palapas Ventana guide you will be responsible for leading client activities and to have knowledge of the particulars of the activity. You need to know your common plants and cactus plus birds, animals, fish and invertebrants. Remember you are the expert for our area and clients look to you for information. Being the expert you should have apps loaded on your phone for quick reference Animals, Fish and Birds at a minimum.The list of activities is just the general names. you will be leading trips on liveaboards, outpost sites and variations of each depending the groups desires. You will also be asked to assist loading and preparing for other guides trips as needed to succeed. There are specific documents for each type of trip we have done to date and we will add more as we vary or create new trips.

Client Interaction and Activity Planning
The guides for Palapas Ventana are responsible for “meet and greet”, staff planning for next day activities, working with clients to get them the activities they want and gear they need for on property activities.
The guides work on a rotating schedule of 2 weeks at a time being the on-site client interface and planner. In addition to the regular schedule one of the guides will cover for a guide leading offsite trips even if it is not your rotation. There is a separate document for processes associated with on-site support that details processes associated with the job and the job task in Google Drive

Property Maintenance
Performing maintenance and projects assigned by the project manager, leading project teams.

Trip Pricing
During your work days and activities planning you will be the face of Palapas Ventana and the sales department. Having on hand pricing knowledge is important to land clients when you are talking to them about activities. The chalk boards in the restaurant and the activities planning room have trip details and some pricing but not all pricing is listed on advertising banners due to periodocal price changes and not wanting to reprint or maodify pricing on the promotional banners everytime. Therefore in the back of this book there is a price document for reference. This document is also available live on Google Drive and will be reprinted and changed in your handbook when pricing is changed.

Gear Expectations
As a guide you should have at a minimum the following equipment
Bluewater and Reef spear gun and buoy system
Freedive gear, Mask, snorkel fins, wetsuit, weightbelt and weights
Scuba Gear, can be same as freedive gear with different fins that are for scuba, Dive Computer, marker buoy and reel.
Bonus is BCD and Regulator
