3 dream destinations to learn how to dive!
If you are looking for the ideal destination and you have the money to be able to spend, here are my top 3 dive spots for scuba dive training:
Learn in Koh Tao, Thailand
This is the best place to learn how to dive if you are situated in Asia. There are many dive centers on this beautiful island which are specialized in dive training. You can learn either via the French system CMAS or PADI International. PADI is generally more “fun” and less technical. This works well if you want to dive leisurely during your vacation. Instead if you want to get serious about Diving, I recommend the CMAS system. Koh Tao is an ideal place for dive training since the conditions include very easy dive sites with shallow and very little current. Also you can admire the beautiful coral reefs and rich reef fauna. You may even from time to time come across a whale shark! If you want more information, visit the page diving in koh-tao.
Aqaba in Jordan
If you want to learn to dive in the Red Sea but are worried that you may end up with more divers under water than actual fish, I advise you to go diving in Aqaba in Jordan. You will find all the fauna and coral of the Red Sea without the inconvenience of Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada. Here, there are many more interesting wrecks to visit! If you want more information on this destination, visit this website on diving in Aqaba.
Learn how to dive in Cairns in Australia
If you have a little more time or money to burn, you could also learn how to dive in Australia and finish your first level in Cairns in Queensland. This is the spot where the highest number of diving certificates in the world are passed each and every year! And of course, you will have the chance to dive on the world famous Great Barrier Reef! Diving courses generally end with a cruise of two days to explore the sites further offshore.
What about you? Where did you learn how to dive? Tell us about your first dive experience in the comments section below! ;-).
Your topic on best place to learn to dive just solidified it for me: we are heading to Thailand in December and were initially looking into Phuket for the Andaman Sea benefit, then Koh Samui turned up better pricing per person but with decent sites. NOW you only reinforced what was also recommended to me by an experienced diver as his favorite place to dive in Thailand: KOH TAO IT IS!! Now, to find a diving operation! Would you recommend researching and booking in advance or waiting to talk to different dive shops in person? Who would u recommend and why? Thank you for your expert and seasoned advice!!
