Gili Mimpang dive site is also called Batu Tiga which means three rocks in Indonesian language. Indeed, it is a series of 3 big rocks followed by another 6 smaller rocks. It is a very good place to see sharks in Bali mainly whitetip reef sharks. It is also a good spot to see the rare wobbegong shark, the very rare coral cat shark as well as the world famous Mola Mola (oceanic sunfish) during the right season (August to October). Large pelagic fishes like trevallies or tuna are often see there too. This dive site is suitable for open water divers but is best for advanced divers as the sharks can often be found below 25 m deep. Always be careful due to the current, it can be quite strong in the area.

Gili Mimpang is sometimes classified as a Drift dive. This location is a Reef. Location based around one or many Rocks. This is great place for spotting and diving with Sharks! Ready to swim around this Wall structure?

You can dive Gili Mimpang all year long. Access: from the Shore. See the map of Gili Mimpang on the right for the exact location.

One Dive Log in “Gili Mimpang”

  1. My partner and I snorkelled here in July 2014. We are amateurs, but very keen and adventurous. A local boat took us here and White Sand Beach. The latter was rubbish (literally!), so avoid that. Gili Mimpang however was terrific. Loads of many different types of fish, bommies and very clear water with visibility beyond 20 metres. We hung around for almost 2 hours covering as much territory as we could, and would go again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended for casual snorkellers like us.
