Emperor Voyager: the vessel itself
Emperor Voyager is a 30 m wooden-hulled boat with a 9 m beam and four decks. Its ten cabins accommodate 20 guests. LiveAboard.com lists construction in 2004 and renovation in 2014; 2014 is a documented refit date, not evidence that no work has occurred since. A separate 20 m dhoni carries the dive operation, leaving the main boat’s shared spaces free for relaxing.
The practical trade-off is cabin position: seven rooms are below deck, one is on the main deck and two are upstairs. If you are sensitive to engine noise, ask where your assigned cabin sits relative to the machinery before paying. Sources: Emperor specifications and partner vessel record.
Which cabin should you book?

Cabins have air-conditioning and private bathrooms. Specify whether you need separate beds, a double, a view or sole occupancy; a category name alone does not settle those details.
Life aboard Emperor Voyager
The main deck of Emperor Voyager has a large outdoor sofa relaxing area complete with a drinks area and a corner bar. There is no shortage of places to relax on the boat or find comfortable seating. The upper-deck dining area gives guests an open-air setting between dives.
Let the operator know about dietary needs before booking. Ask which drinks and internet package are included; connectivity at sea should not be treated as a reliable work connection.
Travelling with a non-diver on Emperor Voyager?
Acceptance and activities: Emperor Maldives welcomes non-diving guests. On this diving-focused boat, plan for time in the lounge or on deck between any suitable snorkeling sessions. Snorkeling requires an available guide, suitable conditions and a flotation aid. A private guide can be arranged in advance at extra cost; ask about equipment and any shore outings on your departure.
Non-diver price: the non-diver fare and any discount need to be confirmed for your departure. Request a written quote for your dates, cruise length, cabin and occupancy, stating currency, taxes, transfers and activity extras. Do not assume that unused dives are refunded.
Diving, routes and experience
A separate 20 m dhoni supports the diving. Nitrox is included for qualified divers. Emperor requires a dive computer, SMB and reef hook; bring a torch for night dives. The current operation is recreational: the old review’s rebreather offer should not be used to plan a technical trip.
Check the itinerary attached to your departure. Malé–Malé routes avoid the domestic-flight logistics of many southern trips. Currents can change the site order and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. See the Maldives diving guide for seasons and atolls.
Emperor recommends allowing at least 24 hours between the final dive and flying. Its Deep South trips require at least 100 logged dives and the appropriate advanced/deep qualification; do not apply a central-atoll entry requirement to those routes.

Budget, inclusions and extras
Ask for a written quote for your chosen cabin, dates and occupancy. Cruise fare, equipment rental, drinks, internet, flights, hotels and insurance are different budget lines; check which are included before comparing offers.

The guest accounts examined on LiveAboard.com repeatedly praise the crew, meals and guiding. Comfort feedback is less uniform. These are guest opinions, separate from Divezone’s reader ratings.

When was Emperor Voyager built?
The partner lists 2004, with a 2014 renovation. Ask for the latest maintenance and cabin information if the refit history affects your choice.
Which Voyager cabins have twin beds?
There are four lower-deck twins, one main-deck twin and two upper-deck twins. Some can convert to doubles. The other three lower-deck rooms have double beds.
Does a solo guest have to pay for a private cabin?
No. Emperor advertises a same-sex sharing guarantee. If it cannot arrange that match, it provides sole occupancy without a supplement under that policy. Voluntarily booking a private cabin is different.
Is Nitrox included on Emperor Voyager?
Yes, for qualified divers. Emperor specifies membrane Nitrox up to 32%. Larger tanks and equipment rental must be arranged separately before arrival.
Where do divers kit up?
On the separate 20 m diving dhoni, which carries the compressors and equipment. The operator lists three dive guides and three dhoni staff.
Can I book rebreather or technical diving?
Do not rely on the older rebreather description. Emperor’s current Maldives itinerary rules prohibit technical, decompression and solo diving. Confirm any specialist equipment request directly.
Could my cabin be noisy?
A March 2026 guest reported generator noise beside their room. Ask for the cabin number and machinery location; we have no cabin-by-cabin acoustic measurements.
Where does Best of Maldives start and finish?
The checked Voyager departures are Malé–Malé. Obtain the airport meeting time and boarding location before buying flights or a resort transfer; the map marks the Malé area, not a fixed berth.

Princess Ushwa
Princess Ushwa is a Maldives charter vessel listed by the Ministry of Tourism as Princess Ushwa (Ocean Lily Cruise), with 24 beds and 12 rooms. Confirm the operating name and cabin plan: older Blue Force Two marketing uses different capacities.
I think the seven-day trip was too short for going around the dive sites in Maldives! There were just too many things to see. There were manta rays, reef sharks, stunning reefs, barracudas, morays, star fishes, and we even spotted a whale shark!
It was definitely a memorable vacation. One of the things that I like with the MV Emperor Agressor was that the dive director and dive masters were very keen on details and one could sense that they have the knowledge about the area and the passion for their work. Very professional staff and crew I should say! It was great spending time with them.
For diving we had one large diving dhoni which were equipped with compressors and oxygen kits. Free nitrox was also provided on board. There were drift dives and night diving, where were watched out for sharks and other fishes.
The crew also prepares sumptuous meals daily and we cannot complain about the meals. They were fantastic. I wouldn’t mind going on board MV Emperor Voyager again. Thank you guys for making my Maldives trip a fantastic and memorable one.
