MY Danubio Azul dive boat review
The Danubio Azul is a liveaboard launched in 2016 to cruise de Galapagos Islands and offering both naturalist and diving cruises. Indeed, the 21 meters vessel offers intimate scuba diving cruises with departures guaranteed from 6 booked guests! The small ship diving cruise is leaving/returning from/to Baltra and visiting all the best dive sites in the Galapagos.
The cabins
The Danubio Azul is a small ship cruising the Galapagos with only 10 lucky divers on-board. Indeed, guests are welcomed in 5 cozy cabins, offering various layouts. Every cabin comes with air-conditioning and a private bathroom facility. You’ll find 3 rooms with bunk beds, including a double bottom berth, 1 cabin with twin beds and 1 with a double bed. Plus, the cabins offer sufficient storage space and either a port hole or a window.

Danubio Azul’s on-board facilities
The Danubio Azul offers a splendid open air dining and bar area in a covered spot of the main deck. Also, the dive deck is spacious, especially considering the small number of guests, and carries all you need. More details below in the diving section.
Moreover, you will find a partially shaded sundeck on the upper deck. It’s the best spot to snap some great pictures of the beautiful Galapagos Islands. Loungers and cozy mats are all over the place so you can enjoy the fresh air and the sun in comfort.
Vessel Layout
The Danubio Azul cruises the Galapagos with all the latest safety and navigation technologies on-board. The ship is among the smallest and most intimate of the few scuba diving cruise ship exploring the Galapagos Islands. Indeed, only the Nortada is smaller, welcoming a maximum of 8 guests, in 4 cabins. Most of the other diving cruise ships such as the Galapagos Sky welcome an average of 16 guests on board.
Scuba diving with the Danubio Azul
The scuba diving operation is well done on the Danubio Azul as a diving naturalist joins the cruise. Indeed, that’s amazing as you get to learn a lot more as you dive and discuss with the naturalist expert afterwards. The incredible biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands is both on land and below the sea surface, and it sure doesn’t miss to impress!
The dive deck of the Danubio Azul is modest, but offers everything you need. The usual scuba diving packages come with the tanks and weights included. Also, you have snorkeling gear and wet suits available on-board. The crew is composed of 6 members and one diving naturalist guide.
