MV Fun Azul Maldives dive boat review
Owned and operated by one of the (relatively) smaller operators in the Maldives, the Fun Azul Fleet Headquarters in based in Tokyo, Japan.
Initially starting out with diving vessels in Mexico, the company has now started running this wonderful diving yacht in the Maldives – the M/V Fun Azul.
The M/V Fun Azul, based in the Maldives, was built in 2009 and was launched in 2013. The vessel was designed to be spacious and luxurious, which offers guests a superb scuba diving experience on and off board.
You can check out the Fun Azul boat schedule here.
At a whisker over 35m long and 10m beam, the M/V Fun Azul compares favourably with its competition, being marginally longer than the Honours Legacy and Aggressor vessels, albeit not as long as the enormous Maldives Crown. Similarly, with it’s ample 450hp engine, it has a comfortable cruising speed of 12 knots.
The M/V Fun Azul lives up to its name as fun and can accommodate 20 guests, 8 crew and 3 dive guides (English and Japanese speaking) in comfort and, as usual, there is a diving Dhoni for when the business of getting wet begins!
Fully equipped with all of the necessary safety facilities ensures you feel comfortable, safe and relaxed on board. This includes oxygen, first aid equipment, life jackets and fire extinguishers in situ.
A wonderful feature of the M/V Fun Azul is that it offers a selection of 7 itineraries depending on season and budget requirements, meaning that there should be plenty of options to suit everyone.
Cabins layout
With regards to accommodation there are 10 cabins on board, each with its own air-conditioning system and hot showers available for guests.
On the lower deck there are 8 Cabins on board: 1 Deluxe Single (1 Queen Bed), 1 Deluxe Double (1 King Bed) and 5 Deluxe Twin cabins (2 Single Bed ).
Upstairs on the top deck are 3 cabins: 1 Suite Twin (1 King Bed) and 2 Master Twin (2 Beds ).
Along with the yacht’s luxurious accommodation facilities, it also comes equipped with its own bar in the saloon offering all of the usual choices of fresh fruit juice, soft drinks, cocktails, liquors, wine and draft beer. And, if several days’ diving in the water is simply not enough for you, there is a 6 person Jacuzzi onboard too!
For your further entertainment, TV, DVD and wifi facilities are available if you desire. A BBQ on a small secluded island is also available for those guests wanting to spend some time on dry land.
Scuba diving is conducted from the ample 22m diving dhoni which also offers the full safety facilities; life jackets, first aid and fire extinguishers.
