Galaxy 720 dive boat review
A look aboard Galaxy 720

Galaxy 720: space to unwind between Red Sea dives
A separate restaurant, a roomy indoor lounge and shaded outdoor seating give Galaxy 720 a relaxed rhythm between dives. The 42-metre wooden yacht carries up to 24 guests on cruises in the Egyptian Red Sea, from northern wreck circuits to the offshore walls of the Brothers and Daedalus.
The operator’s live calendar still lists departures in late 2026 and May 2027. LiveAboard.com currently has no online availability for this boat, so a missing date there should not be mistaken for the end of its operation.

Nine twin cabins and three suites
Galaxy 720 has 12 guest cabins: eight standard twins and a Royal Suite on the lower deck, plus one standard twin and two suites upstairs. The separate triple cabin in the technical specification is for guides, not three additional guest berths. All guest cabins have private bathrooms and individual air-conditioning.
| Cabin | What distinguishes it | 31 October 2026 example |
|---|---|---|
| Lower standard twin · 8 cabins | Two separate beds; the main choice for sharing divers | From €1,200 per person |
| Lower Royal Suite · 1 cabin | King-size double, two sofas and separate shower cubicle | From €1,300 per person |
| Upper standard twin · 1 cabin | Separate beds on the upper deck | No available fare displayed |
| Upper suites · 2 cabins | King-size doubles and large sea-view windows | No available fare displayed |
Those starting fares were displayed for the seven-night BDE departure on 14 October 2026, before the listed €200 southern fuel surcharge. A suite buys a different layout and more private sitting space; an upper-deck cabin is the choice to explore if a sea view matters. A dedicated single cabin is not listed. Solo sharing arrangements and sole-occupancy supplements need a cabin-specific quote.
The official specification gives a length of 42 metres and a beam of 9 metres. Partner records list construction in 2009 and renovation in 2021. Photographs illustrate the accommodation; they do not establish the date of the latest maintenance or an independent safety inspection.
Life aboard
On the Galaxy 720, you will find plenty of spaces to relax between the dives. The air-conditioned saloon has broad windows and sofas, while the restaurant at the bow of the main deck keeps mealtimes separate from the lounge. Outside, the upper-deck bar, seating and shaded areas offer different places to read, compare photographs or simply watch the coast pass.
Meals are served as a buffet, with snacks, drinking water and soft drinks included in the checked direct offer. Vegetarian and vegan options appear in the partner listing; advance notice gives the cook a chance to prepare for dietary requirements. Alcohol is separate. The official gallery also shows a sky-deck dining and grill area, though a particular barbecue evening is not promised with every sailing.
Wi-Fi is advertised by the partner, but offshore coverage and speed are not established. It is sensible to download travel documents before boarding and regard connection time as a bonus. Camera rinsing and charging facilities are listed; the public information does not establish a dedicated camera room.
Diving from Galaxy 720
The broad stern deck provides space for gearing up and storing equipment, with a lower platform and two tenders for access to the sites. The operator lists both 12-litre and 15-litre cylinders and a nitrox membrane system. Larger cylinders and rental equipment are arranged separately, with advance requests helping the team load the right sizes.
For the 31 October BDE departure, the cabin-selection summary states a minimum of 50 logged dives and Advanced Open Water or equivalent. The November St John’s and Rocky–Zabargad detail panels instead recommend 30 or more dives alongside the same qualification. The general FAQ gives higher experience figures for some routes, so these are departure-specific matters to settle before payment, not one rule for every Egyptian cruise.
Offshore walls, current and tender entries reward comfortable buoyancy and recent experience. A logbook total alone does not make every dive suitable. Dive computers and surface signalling equipment appear in the operator’s equipment guidance. Wreck penetration and reef tunnels are separate decisions governed by training, conditions and the briefing; the route name does not include automatic access to an overhead environment.
The October sample describes about 16 dives over seven nights, with local check dives first and fewer dives on the final day. Marine-park island night dives are excluded. Sightings of sharks or other large animals remain possibilities, while reef life, wreck structure and the different landscapes offer plenty to enjoy in their own right.
Non-divers, leisure charters and kitesurfing
Non-divers are welcomed in the partner listing, and snorkelling equipment and a snorkelling guide appear as optional services. Their price, supervision and suitable water time need agreeing for the specific cruise. A standard offshore dive itinerary does not imply daily island visits or a kitesurfing programme.
Galaxy 720 separately markets custom leisure and kitesurfing safaris. Its leisure description includes possible island hopping, yoga, water games, diving and kitesurfing, arranged around the group’s interests. These are tailored charter options rather than activities guaranteed to a companion on BDE. No fixed non-diver discount or dated leisure itinerary was established.
Seven dive programmes to distinguish
Six route families appear in the operator’s catalogue; the live calendar adds a distinct Rocky–Zabargad circuit through the southern reefs. All dated departures examined last seven nights. The dates below document the programmes, including sold-out trips, rather than promise available cabins.
The map shows selected, verified geographic references. It does not plot every listed site, the exact joining berth or a complete sailing track. The written programmes explain the published progression where it is available; weather, permissions and the captain’s decisions can change it.
Brothers, Daedalus & Elphinstone
7 nights · Hurghada round trip; other port arrangements exist
31 October–7 November 2026; also 21–28 November and 1–8 / 8–15 May 2027
The offshore-wall choice, with longer open-water passages and current-exposed dives. The October sample starts with local Hurghada dives, then Big Brother and Small Brother, two days at Daedalus, Elphinstone and coastal dives before returning to port. Night diving is excluded at the marine-park islands. The named areas have an indicative order, but local check-dive sites and the actual marina are not fixed, so the map shows references rather than a complete sailing track.
North Classic
7 nights · Hurghada round trip
24–31 October 2026; 15–22 and 22–29 May 2027
A wreck-led northern circuit around Abu Nuhas, Gubal, Thistlegorm and Shag Rock, with Small Crack among the reef possibilities. The catalogue also names Ulysses and the Barge. It suits an interest in maritime history, but a northern label does not make every wreck shallow or sheltered. The operator’s FAQ gives 50 logged dives for wreck programmes; the exact departure conditions take priority. The published catalogue does not establish a fixed daily order.
North & Tiran
Hurghada round trip · duration and date to confirm
Catalogue programme; no future date in the checked calendar
Adds the Strait of Tiran’s Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon reefs to northern wrecks and Ras Mohammed. Laguna-area wrecks are also mentioned when conditions allow. Compared with North Classic, this is a wider northern journey with more reef and wall variety. Current and exposed crossings matter, especially around Tiran. Individual stops and their order remain flexible; Woodhouse, Small Crack and Laguna sites are not pinned without verified positions.
North & Brothers
Departure port and duration to confirm
Catalogue programme; no future date in the checked calendar
Combines Abu Nuhas and Thistlegorm with the Brothers islands: a compromise between a wreck week and an offshore itinerary. The Brothers add exposed walls and the Aida and Numidia wrecks, whose deeper sections extend beyond recreational limits. The northern-to-offshore progression is described by the operator, but no complete daily sequence or joining port is established for a future departure.
St John’s & Elphinstone
7 nights · Port Ghalib round trip
7–14 November 2026
After coastal check dives near Marsa Alam, the sample travels south overnight. Days three to five explore St John’s, with Small and Big Gota, Habili Ali, Dangerous Reef, the Caves, Umm Aruk and Habili Gaffar among possible sites. Fury Shoals follows, including Malahi, Claudia, Maksur and Sataya, before returning north. Elphinstone is a possible final-area dive rather than a guaranteed stop. The combination offers reef variety, but overhead passages still require an appropriate briefing, training and conditions.
Rocky–Zabargad & the southern reefs
7 nights · Port Ghalib round trip
14–21 November and 28 November–5 December 2026
This dated programme is distinct from the Daedalus–Rocky–Zabargad catalogue route. The November sample goes from Marsa Alam check dives to Rocky and Zabargad, then St John’s, Fury Shoals and Elphinstone. Abu Dabbab and the Shouna/Marsa Mubarak area appear on the return. Daedalus is not included in that published sample. It covers a wide southern area, with substantial passages; individual reef choices can change.
Daedalus, Rocky & Zabargad
Departure port and duration to confirm
Catalogue programme; no matching dated departure confirmed
The operator’s separate catalogue combines Daedalus, Rocky Island and Zabargad with Elphinstone. Offshore walls contrast with the island’s lagoon and fringing reefs. It should not be substituted for the November Rocky–Zabargad week simply because the names overlap: Daedalus changes both the geography and the sailing involved. Obtain the actual dated programme before choosing flights or comparing fares.
Reefs and wrecks in context
Abu Nuhas groups several wrecks around one reef, while the Gubal area adds both wreck and reef diving. The Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone are exposed wall-diving choices. Farther south, St John’s and Fury Shoals spread the week across reef formations, pinnacles and passages. The markers below are geographical references, not boat positions or dive-entry instructions.

This short drone film comes from the operator’s own gallery. It shows the yacht’s exterior and deck arrangement; it is not a dated inspection of every cabin.

Budget for the departure, not just the headline fare
The direct 31 October–7 November 2026 offer starts at €1,200 in a lower twin or €1,300 in the Royal Suite, with a €200 southern fuel surcharge listed separately. That makes €1,400 or €1,500 respectively before other applicable costs. These are comparison baselines, not confirmed all-inclusive totals.
The included list covers seven nights, full board, snacks, soft drinks, water, dive guides, 12-litre cylinders, weight belts and VAT. It explicitly includes nitrox at 27–30%, yet the same system also carries a generic €70 nitrox option. The written quote should resolve that duplication. The partner’s separate €150–290 park, port and fuel range should not simply be added on top without checking which fees the direct offer already covers.
Flights, transfers, entry arrangements, alcohol, rental equipment and courses remain additional planning items. The direct listing places a recommended €100 crew gratuity inside a section labelled obligatory surcharges while also listing it among extras. Its status needs clarification before payment; the page does not support silently treating it as either a compulsory fee or an included service.
| Optional item | Displayed direct price |
|---|---|
| Equipment set without computer | €130 per trip |
| Equipment set with computer | €170 per trip |
| 15-litre cylinder | €35 per trip |
| Computer rental | €45 per trip |
| Snorkelling equipment | €35 per trip |
| Nitrox specialty course | €275 |
These figures were checked on 14 October 2026 and can change. An agent’s package may include different transfers, insurance or fees. Comparing the same cabin, dates and included services is more useful than comparing a daily “from” price with a complete holiday.
Joining and leaving the boat
The October BDE listing gives Hurghada boarding at 16:00 and checkout at 09:00, seven nights later. The November St John’s and Rocky–Zabargad examples use Port Ghalib at the same times. However, the calendar also warns that the port depends on the schedule: the confirmed joining instructions should determine flights and transfers.
Hurghada and Port Ghalib are different embarkation areas, served most directly by Hurghada and Marsa Alam airports respectively. Transfers are offered on request. The final dive time and surface interval must fit the return flight; a checkout time alone does not establish when flying is appropriate. For entry formalities and current regional advice, use the travel guidance for Egypt rather than assuming one rule applies throughout the Red Sea.
Guest impressions and their limits
LiveAboard.com had no verified guest reviews for Galaxy 720 in the listing examined. Other directories reproduce Google feedback, but the accessible excerpts did not consistently show trip dates. Their comments can highlight questions to ask, without being treated as a dated inspection of the present boat.
What guests loved
In Google excerpts reproduced by Destidive, Alvaro Escribano praised helpful guides, hot showers and varied meals. Gabriela M. highlighted an attentive crew and well-organised days. Both describe the people and daily routines as important parts of their enjoyment.
What could be better
Javiera Martínez’s reproduced account mentioned air-conditioning problems and repeated efforts by the crew to fix them, while remaining positive about the trip. The excerpt is undated, so it does not establish a current recurring fault. Older reports from before the listed 2021 renovation should not be presented as a description of today’s cabins.
When another option may fit better
A traveller who needs a dedicated single cabin or dependable internet should compare alternatives before committing. Someone seeking a quiet coastal week may prefer North Classic or a shore-based stay to long offshore passages. For a mixed group of divers and non-divers, the tailored leisure programme deserves a separate discussion rather than assuming a diving departure will provide the same activities.
Galaxy 720: practical questions
How many guest cabins are there?
Twelve: nine standard twins and three double suites. The guide cabin is separate from the 24 guest berths.
Which cabins have king-size beds?
The lower Royal Suite and the two upper suites. Standard cabins have twin beds; “double cabin” can mean a room for two people rather than one shared bed.
Is Galaxy 720 still offering trips?
The official calendar checked on 14 October 2026 lists late-2026 and May-2027 departures. The lack of live dates on one partner platform does not establish retirement.
What is the checked seven-night price?
For 31 October 2026, the direct starting fare was €1,200 in a lower twin or €1,300 in the Royal Suite, plus a listed €200 southern fuel surcharge. Other applicable costs need a complete quote.
Is nitrox free?
The checked BDE and St John’s offers include nitrox at 27–30%, but generic extras also list a €70 charge. Confirm the inclusion for your booking rather than paying for it twice.
How much experience does BDE require?
The 31 October cabin-selection summary says at least 50 logged dives and Advanced Open Water or equivalent. Other programmes show different recommendations, so confirm your exact departure.
Does Rocky–Zabargad include Daedalus?
Not in the November sample examined. That programme continues through St John’s, Fury Shoals and Elphinstone. Daedalus–Rocky–Zabargad is a separate catalogue route.
Can a non-diver come along?
The partner welcomes non-divers. Their fare, snorkelling arrangements and supervision need confirming. Leisure and kitesurfing charters are separate products.
Are transfers included?
They are listed separately in the checked direct BDE offer. Arrange the pickup around the confirmed port, which may be Hurghada or Port Ghalib.
Can I book the whole boat for a different holiday?
The operator advertises tailored leisure and kitesurfing charters. Duration, route, instructors, activities and price are agreed for the group; no fixed package was established here.
